Interview preparation

The final step in our application process is a set of interviews at a Simon-Kucher office. There will be “classic” interview questions focusing on your previous experience and your motivation for applying to Simon-Kucher. Most interviews will also include a business case, a brainteaser and/or an estimation question. All of these may involve some basic calculations. Of course, you will have an opportunity to ask questions yourself.

Interviews can be tough. However, they are essential for us to assess your skills and your fit with our needs and our culture. They are also a very good opportunity for you to discover for yourself whether Simon-Kucher is right for you. You can get to know our associates and see what our company culture is like. And don’t forget, it’s an opportunity for you to take the initiative and convince us why you would be a great addition to our team.

Below are a few tips for your interview preparation:

Be yourself

Being yourself is important. We want to get to know you as a potential future colleague and member of the team. Being yourself helps you focus your attention on the interview questions and cases instead of playing a role that is not in line with the “real you”.

Be prepared

Make sure you have a good understanding of who we are and the work that we do before you apply and before you come for an interview. Being prepared will help you relax on interview day and show us what you have to offer Simon-Kucher. It will also help you know what to expect in your interviews and how to react. You should practice some case studies before you come. For more detailed information on how to prepare for case interviews, please read on here.

In your preparation, you should keep our company focus in mind. Our focus is on strategy, marketing, and pricing. This means we are more likely to ask you about how to optimize a marketing strategy than we are to ask about cost cutting, operations, or human resources strategy. Read up on topics relevant to pricing, strategy, and marketing — and/or one of our focus industries — before your interviews. Be ready to show your interviewers why you can add something to Simon-Kucher that no one else can. Being prepared will help us both know whether Simon-Kucher is right for you and whether you are right for Simon-Kucher.
