Dirk Kars

Dirk Kars is a Partner in the Life Science Division of SIMON - KUCHER & PARTNERS, located in Bonn & Paris. He leads the company’s pharmaceutical consulting teams in Italy and France.

He studied International Relations, Economics and Law at the University of Constance and the University of Warwick. He received his MA from the University of Constance in 1999 and joined SIMON - KUCHER & PARTNERS in the same year.

Dirk Kars supports international pharmaceutical and biotech companies in the areas of strategic marketing, international pricing and formulation of reimbursement & market access strategies. He focuses especially on pricing organization and processes and on the healthcare systems of the EU member states.

He managed two major benchmarking studies on the organization of the pharmaceutical pricing function in leading pharmaceutical companies and on the marketing & sales models applied by biotech & specialized pharmaceutical companies when expanding into the EU.

He is a frequent speaker at international pharmaceutical conferences and has published in industry publications such as Scrip Magazine and Decision Resources.

He has conducted international pricing, positioning, reimbursement and pricing process projects for companies such as ALK Abelló, Amersham Health, Aventis, Bayer, Boehringer Ingelheim, Eli Lilly, GlaxoSmithKline, Janssen Cilag, Merck KGaA, Novartis, Novo Nordisk, Schering AG, Shire, Stryker Biotech, Wyeth, and Yamanouchi.
