Georg Tacke

Dr. Georg Tacke is the former CEO of Simon-Kucher. He led the company from May 2009 to December 2019 and is currently serving the firm in the capacity of a Senior Partner/Advisor.

Georg has more than 30 years of consulting experience in the service sector and automotive industry. His areas of expertise include strategy, marketing, sales and pricing. He is well-known as one of the top pricing experts and supports numerous CEOs and management boards as a personal consultant and coach.

Georg joined Simon-Kucher just three years after its foundation and became a partner in 1990. Together with the other Partners and associates, he has helped Simon-Kucher to grow from a small German consultancy into a global consulting firm with 39 offices in 25 countries. During his more than 30 years with Simon-Kucher, Georg has taken on several leadership positions, among others: division leader, member of the Board, CFO and CEO.

Georg holds a Master’s degree in business administration and a PhD from the University of Bielefeld. He also studied and conducted research as a visiting scholar at the Stanford Business School.

Georg is the (co-)author of books and numerous articles on strategic business issues, sales and pricing. His latest book Monetizing Innovation: How Smart Companies Design the Product Around the Price was published by Wiley in 2016.

Mark Billige

Mark is Co-CEO at Simon-Kucher & Partners and has been with our company since 2006. He has 15 years of experience in the field of pricing and financial management, specializing in the development of pricing and monetization strategies, revenue model redesign, portfolio and packaging optimization, customer segmentation, loyalty management, and promotional effectiveness. Mark advises clients in B2B and B2C industries, including telecom, internet, media, software, and professional services. He also has extensive experience working with private equity firms and their portfolio companies, both pre- and post-deal.

Before joining Simon-Kucher, Mark worked in various positions within industry and consulting. He held senior posts in pricing and corporate finance at FLAG Telecom and Reliance Industries and was a management consultant at PWC Consulting and IBM Business Consulting.

Mark is a regular speaker and moderator at conferences and business schools and often appears in the press and broadcast media to comment on pricing strategy topics. He is a chartered management accountant (ACMA) and has a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in management from the University of Nottingham.

Andreas von der Garten

Andreas is Co-CEO at Simon-Kucher & Partners. He was previously the global head of our company’s Consumer & Retail practice, conducting projects dealing with price and discount optimization, marketing and brand strategy development, and brand valuation. He has particularly focused on topics combining marketing and management control and has directly accompanied the implementation of new strategies at many client companies.

Before joining Simon-Kucher, Andreas studied economics and business administration at the University of Bochum, with a focus on auditing, management control, and marketing. After receiving his Master of Business Administration in economics, he worked as an academic assistant for the university’s Chair of Marketing. In addition to his work on brand valuation, he managed numerous reorganization and process optimization projects as well as projects to develop brand strategy (repositioning and introduction of brands). His PhD thesis on brand valuation in management control and auditing was awarded the Gebrüder-Deschauer Prize from the University of Bochum.

Andreas is a speaker at IIR Deutschland, Management Circle, and Management Forum and is the author of several books and articles. He has also taught management control at the private University of Applied Science for Economics and Management (FOM).

Hermann Simon

Hermann Simon is the Founder and Honorary Chairman of Simon-Kucher & Partners. He is an expert in strategy, marketing and pricing. He has an extensive global range of clients. He is the only German in the Thinkers50 list of the most influential international management thinkers in the world. In German-speaking countries he has been continuously voted the most influential living management thinker since 2005. In China, a business school has been named after him.

Before committing himself entirely to management consulting, Simon was a professor of business administration and marketing at the Universities of Mainz (1989-1995) and Bielefeld (1979-1989). He was also a visiting professor at Harvard Business School, Stanford, London Business School, INSEAD, Keio University in Tokyo and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. From 1995 to 2009 he was CEO of Simon-Kucher & Partners. His Hirsch-Index is 52.

Professor Simon has published over 35 books in 26 languages, including the worldwide bestsellers Hidden Champions (Boston 1996, cover story of BusinessWeek in 2004) and Power Pricing (New York 1997), as well as Manage for Profit, Not for Market Share (Boston 2006). His book Hidden Champions of the 21st Century, Success Strategies of Unknown World Market Leaders (New York 2009) investigates the strategies of little known market leaders. His book Confessions of the Pricing Man was published by Springer, New York in October 2015. Price Management, the US version of his leading German textbook, will be published in 2018.

Simon was and is a member of the editorial boards of numerous business journals, including the International Journal of Research in Marketing, Management Science, Recherche et Applications en Marketing, Décisions Marketing, European Management Journal as well as several German journals. For several decades he regularly wrote columns for the German business monthly Manager Magazin. As a board member of numerous foundations and corporations, Professor Simon has gained substantial experience in corporate governance. From 1984 to 1986 he was the president of the European Marketing Academy (EMAC). Simon is co-founder of the first Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC) listed on the German Stock Exchange in Frankfurt, which acquired Exceet Group S.E. in July 2011.

A native of Germany, he studied economics and business administration at the universities of Bonn and Cologne. He received his diploma (1973) and his doctorate (1976) from the University of Bonn. Simon has received numerous international awards and holds honorary doctorates from IEDC Business School of Bled (Slovenia), from the University of Siegen (Germany) and from Kozminski University Warsaw (Poland). He is a honorary professor at the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing.
