Tobias Hartz

Partner

Tobias is a partner in Simon-Kucher’s Berlin office. He leads the Transaction Services team in Central and Northern Europe.

Tobias has over 10 years of experience in M&A, commercial value creation and corporate strategy. He works with Private Equity firms and strategic investors across target industries, having a special interest in Industrial Goods and Business Services, as well as Tech and Software deals.

His project work is focused on:

  • transaction support (buy- and sell-side, CDD, target search), having supported 100+ transactions
  • commercial value creation (incl. 100 days planning, program management)
  • corporate strategy (strategic planning, technology portfolio, geographic expansion, top-line push)

Tobias has worked in many countries of the EU, in the US, the UK, China and Brazil. Prior to joining the company, he served as a partner at a large consulting firm, where he advised PE investors in D-A-CH countries.

Tobias holds a Master in European Business from ESCP Europe (Berlin and London), as well as an LLB from Bucerius Law School (Hamburg and New York). He is co-author of numerous PE-focused publications, often delivered in cooperation with leading scientific institutions and cited in major news media. Current focus areas of his research are: ESG in PE, especially climate impact of PE, and value creation in PE portfolio companies.

Tobias is also a successful startup entrepreneur and dedicated business angel, with an avid interest in climate-impact as well as deep tech investments.
