After five years in FMCG, Dominika Steinke was ready for a new challenge. Today, as a Senior Consultant in our Life Sciences division in Warsaw, she combines her consumer experience with strategic thinking and client work. In this interview, Dominika shares what she has learned along the way, how taking on responsibility has shaped her growth, and what makes the Warsaw office special.
What convinced you that Simon-Kucher was the right place to start your consulting career?
Dominika: After five years in FMCG, I was ready for a new challenge that would let me build on my consumer experience while gaining a different perspective. I was looking for a place where I could learn quickly, strengthen my strategic thinking, and leverage my understanding of consumer needs to address broader business challenges. Simon-Kucher stood out to me because of its global presence in healthcare and life sciences and deep expertise in commercial strategy.
What surprised you most during your first few months at Simon-Kucher?
Dominika: I was surprised by how much people invest in each other’s development. Colleagues are always willing to share their experience, offer advice, and make time for questions, regardless of seniority.
What’s the most valuable piece of feedback you’ve received at Simon-Kucher?
Dominika: One of the most valuable pieces of feedback I’ve received was to always keep the client perspective in mind. Understanding the reason behind the question and the decision it needs to support helps shape the overall approach and keeps the work focused on what matters most.
If someone visited the Warsaw office for a day, what do you think they’d notice first?
Dominika: The diversity of backgrounds and perspectives is probably one of the first things you notice. The Warsaw office brings together colleagues from different countries and professional paths, which creates a good mix of experiences and points of view. There’s also a very open and friendly atmosphere, and it’s easy to connect with people across teams and seniority levels.
How would you describe your colleagues in three words?
Dominika: Ambitious, supportive, and open-minded.
If you could give your first-day self one piece of advice, what would it be?
Dominika: Take advantage of the range of experiences consulting gives you. Different projects, people, and situations all bring something new, and over time that exposure shapes the perspective you bring to your work.
